Some people download ad blockers, the group known as Planka goes a step further taking down all the advertising in the Stockholm Subway as a form of protest. The best part is when they simultaneously zip-tie all the turnstiles in a station to allow free entry for commuters.
These guys aren’t doing this just to rebel against ‘the man’, they are doing it because, in their words…“it’s about something as simple and basic as trying to regain democratic control over the design of the common room that our public transport is.” This group not only give a strong argument as to why advertising on public transport should be abandoned but they also give well backed-up solutions that are realistic.
