Featured Artist - Kes (part 2)

Kes has been flexing his skill and can control ability for years.
His work was always quite "tech" and he could use an old chisel
(calligraphy) cap with grace and precision when others were still
jamming cardboard over the valve as a buffering system..
Now with the technology of today, alongside patience and perseverance
he has continued to hack away at his game building up quite an
impressive portfolio of pieces, productions and characters..
Solo or with crew.

More from Kes below...

YO! i write KesOne, been writing with paint since 1999/00 and
been writing Kes since 2004, i've had a few different tags
over the years. At the time, i was still influenced by 3
letter tag writers so it made sense to me. It came from
Klens though, i thought 5 letters where too long at the time.

I got into graff through a mate showing me a page of graff from
the source mag in a small country town, and since i was
already drawing and artistic it just felt right. I've never
looked back and here i am now, 12 odd years later writing
graff, repping the crew that influenced me the most, who
i wanted to be like, admired so much! FX! Although,
doesn't mean as much these days ( i guess the novelty
has worn off now), but will be a good memory to have
when i look back at this shit.

I've had a few partners over the years, but
Deo would be my main and longest running partner.
We make things happen on walls and work well together.
having said that, i also enjoy painting alone,
thats the way i started doing this shit,
so i don't mind if thats the way i end it.

I paint with a select few, my crew (TFH) and
a few select others. Im not one for driving
over the country side to hook up with as many
writers as possible, just not that social.. Plus!
alot of people here in Brisbane are about quantity,
not quality..

Style wise my tastes have slowly changed and im not
hooked up with free paint whenever i want it, i have to
use what i have. Thats one of the reasons you have been
seeing more traditional graff from me recently, plus as
im getting older, my tastes are changing.
I do more variety now, makes it more fun and enjoyable
and keeps yaz guessing a little more!.

Shout outs to Crush City for hooking a brother up,
it does not go unappreciated.

Shout outs to my family that are my friends, my two crews,
Eric and Sam @ Crush City Tattoo
and my girlfriend, Kim.

Peace
