This quote by Stayhigh149 says it all, it's a real reality check..
Yet another sad loss to the New York and international graffiti world.
Stay High 149 aka Wayne Roberts died at 61.
The highly respected “voice of the ghetto” has passed away as one
of the most important writers in the history of
graffiti.
His work is one of the earliest dating back to the late 60s
and carried
a palpable level of innovation in an era in which this mass
phenomenon
was only in its embryonic stage.
Stay High 149 was the first to adopt an icon
rather than a typographic tag.
His “Smoker” was a
subversive spin-off of the logo developed for the
1960s classic spy
thriller television show “The Saint.”
One man who will stay up forever...
Rest in peace Stay High 149.
